Going back to Gym!
Yesterday was Safra Jurong open house, so I dropped by and had a quick look around. Overall the whole place is very open and bright, the gym looks ok too, on the small side compared to PF in GWC. Not sure if it’s crowded or not on normal days, it was very crowded during the open house.. if it’s not as crowded when I visit the gym in the morning than the small area does not matter.
Facilities wise is ok.. Toilet/shower area smells like a toilet, the ventilation needs some improving… Locker room looks clean and bright. Equipment wise, during the quick look, I see 1 smith, 1 rack of free weights, 2 rows of some dumbbells, 1 (or 2) cable machine, 1 leg press, some other machines, 6 or 7 treadmills, 4 or 5 bikes, 1 stair climbing machine, 1 elliptical(?) machine, did not see any rower.
Anyway, I signed up with EnergyOne as a member. Paid $40 for the entry fee, and monthly is $30 (before tax). I paid up $440+ upfront for a 12 months contract.. Got a lucky dip and won 1 backpack, 1 face tower and some facial wash samples.
I hope to be visiting the gym soon (this week)..
Feels excited to be going back to gym.. wonder if the trainers there are those friendly or laidback type.. I hope is friendly.. I have not been in a gym for 4 years.. I have already forgotten the correct way and form for some of the exercises..

According to this table:

I belong to the low income group.
No wonder I feel so poor! Because I am officially poor!
Am I eligible for low income benefits? *dreaming*
Safra membership renewal
Just last weekend I queued up in Jurong Point for 1.5 hours to renew my Safra membership and apply for YY a dependent membership for a total of $161.
Got a free Timex watch for renewing 5 years.
The main aim is to enjoy the petrol discount of 12% from Caltex. I just top up last night, I got a discount of more than 8 dollars! Wow. That’s really a lot. Comparing SPC 92 vs Caltex 95, I am still paying less with Safra and Caltex.
Next I am waiting for the Safra clubhouse in Jurong to be completed so that I can join their gym and use the free swimming pool and facilities. Dunno when it will finish construction though.
Anti-glare screen protector for iPhone 3G
I just got the anti-glare film set for iPhone 3G from the Apple store.
I got the anti-glare instead of the crystal-clear film set is because:
- keeps screen free of scratches, dirt and dust
- provides traction for improved responsiveness
- resists smudges and fingerprints
- won’t leave sticky residue when removed
The set came with 2 pieces of screen protector films, which is a good thing because I mangled up the first piece!
I used some 3M sticky tape to try and lift up some dust particles on the screen protector adhesive side and i guess it spoilt the adhesive because some parts came off the screen-side of the film! Luckily the mangled part is not on the part covering the screen so I’m still using the mangled piece for now.. I’ll change to the second piece when this piece get scratches..
Anyway, besides the self-inflicted error, I’m satisfied with the “matt-ness” of the screen display. The feel of the matt texture is good, smooth and glides easily.
It appears slightly dimmer and not crystal-clear like my previous cheapo clear film. Fingerprints also does not appear so clearly. Although after answering a call, the film does pick up the facial oil but it’s not as dirty-looking as the old film.
The other point of this anti-glare film I don’t like is that it’s slightly smaller than the screen, and the hole for the Home button is about 1mm bigger than the button. Which makes aligning the film during application a slight challenge as I have to estimate the approximate position of the film based on the Home button. I also foresee dust trapping at the edges of the film around the Home button hole in the near future..
Anyway, out of 5 stars, I’ll give this 4 stars.

Resolution for 2009
I know it’s pointless (sort-of) but here’s my resolution for 2009:
- Loss some weight, eat healthier food.
Target ideal weight is 57kg for my height.
(Use this calculator for asian BMI: http://www.hpb.gov.sg/hpb/default.asp?pg_id=997 ).
I’m currently hovering between 60kg to 63kg. - Do some regular exercise. Getting old!
- Be nicer to everyone. Talk less, listen more.
- Think more before buying stuff. I spent too much money in 2008.
- Be more serious at work.
I think this should be enough, already quite challenging.
Hope I stick to these resolutions.
